New Dell laptop introduces wireless charging

While there’s nothing immediately obvious about the Dell Latitude Z that makes it unique, there is a rare first hidden inside; Wireless charging of the battery, no plugging in required. The wireless charging is an option though, and an expensive one at that. The special dock will cost around $200 and lining up the laptop on the dock to get it charging will take some getting used to.
The innovative system is somewhat similar to your electric toothbrush. A coil of wire is located on the bottom of the laptop, and another coil of wire is in the dock. Through induction, power is transferred when the two coils come in contact. Dell insists that charging the laptop this way is no slower than using standard plug-in power.

Apart from the industry-first wireless charging, the Latitude Z has wireless docking system which lets you connect to USB devices and an external monitor without plugging it in. Although the range of the wireless dock is only 12 feet, the technology behind it will only improve with time as will the wireless charging. The laptop also features a separate processor on its own motherboard, which gives the Latitude Z an instant-on mode with quick access to email, contact, calendars and a web browser. Dell claims that the low-power quick-boot could prolong battery life up to half a day or more.

The Latitude also comes with an SSD Hard Drive, ultra thin profile, a crisp screen and Smart Card reader which lets users simply swipe their cards over the palm rest to log in.

New Apple patent filing reveals plans for ten-finger multi-touch input device

Imagine a contoured touch-sensitive surface that lets you type, swipe, and tap using all ten of your fingers at once. Now imagine the ability to use fingers on both hands to twirl or stretch a 2-D document, like a photo. Is this a preview of what the iTablet can do? According to sources the patent application outlines in exhaustive detail how the multi-touch user interface will work and recognize all ten fingers. The system will also have the ability to determine whether you are actively typing or simply resting your fingers or palms on the input surface.

The proposed Apple system is not without precedence. First it was Star Trek and the touch screen inputs on the bridge, then there was the Microsoft surface, which was a touch screen tabletop that lets you type, tap, twirl and draw with all 10 fingers. However, the system was so bulky and cost too much to be able to deploy as a consumer product let alone a portable device. Although Apple’s patent filing is purely academic at this time, until of course we see a product with the stated features. The question is whether the product they are talking about is the much rumored iTablet. The system described seems like a perfect fit for a 10 inch touch screen tablet. Or this could also mean a touch screen iMac that eliminates mouse and keyboard altogether.

Customized customer support solution

If you’re thinking about outsourcing your answering services or call center services, it is important to find a company that will create a custom solution that is tailored to fit your business. For example, not all answering service companies are equipped or experienced to handle emergency calls.

The telephone answering service you use must have the knowledge and tools to handle your specific work load. Select an answering service company with experience in various professions and industries. When it comes to screening calls, for example, many companies offer more than just screening for urgent and non-urgent calls. You can receive comprehensive contact center solutions with services built to screen calls the way you need them to be screened.

Answering services are available for the following industries: customer support, help desk services, order fulfillment, referral services, event registration, subscription renewals, and literature requests. Select a company that offers a full range of answering service solutions, whether you need doctors answering service solutions or event registration services.

Display your collection

If you want to show off your collection to the rest of the world, it is important to design an outstanding display. Whether you own a fancy teacup collection or a sports memorabilia collection, the following is a quick guide to making an impact with your collection display.

Choose one item as your centerpiece. Whether it is a signed baseball in a ball qube display case or a rare porcelain doll in a glass dome, place the object on the top shelf of a cabinet or above the fireplace. Make sure it is the first object people notice when they enter the room. Once they are attracted to the first object, the will be drawn to check out the rest of your collection.

Provide adequate lighting. Even if your prized possessions are neatly showcased in clear display cases, the wrong lighting can ruin the entire display. You can choose from a variety of recessed lighting, under-shelf halogen lights or simple table lamps to make sure your collection is well-lit.

Group items of similar size and visual appearance. To create balance and symmetry, arrange similar objects together. Grouping things together always creates a pleasing arrangement and avoids the cluttered or scattered look.
