Lohan’s Attorney Quits

Lindsay Lohan is going to jail and there no two words about it. Her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, is so unhappy about this that she has resigned from the case. The mean girls star was sentenced to a 90 day jail term a few days ago.

Holley released a statement soon after the Judge’s decision, stating that the verdict was harsh. She stated that both she and Lohan were extremely disappointed with the verdict. She also said that penalizing Lohan for being unable to balance her work commitments against the requirements of the courts was unfair as well.

However, according to Holley, Lohan may not have sit in jail for the entire 90 days. Due to overcrowding and budget cuts, Lohan may get out much earlier. Of course, her worries and commitments don’t end there. Once she gets out of jail, she has to check in to a rehab clinic and make regular visits to a probation officer. During these visits she will be tested for drugs and alcohol.

The jail sentence stems from Lohan’s 2007 drugged out drunken ride in her vehicle. She was then sentenced to three of probation which she violated by missing seven alcohol education classes. Holley was brought in to fix that problem in 2009 and to her credit she did. The probation was reinstated and she even managed to keep the star out of trouble for a while. But Lohan’s recent shenanigans did not go down well with Judge Marsha Revel, who decided enough was enough.

Solar Power on a Budget

In a time when many families are looking to cut both their expenses and their impact on the environment, solar power installations can seem like a win-win solution. Using less electricity means a lower electric bill, while investing in a form of renewable energy means a cleaner, more sustainable world tomorrow. However, it’s the investment portion that can be a problem for some these days, even when it means putting the money towards something as important as living greener.

Luckily, there are Southern California home builders and contractors out there who are working to make solar panels a more affordable option for everybody. Many are tired of seeing a continued dependence on fossil fuels that pollute the environment. And in a pollution heavy area like Los Angeles County, finding ways to cut back on contributing to the existing smog problem is an ongoing battle.

While green construction in Los Angeles continues to grow, some contractors are actually looking to create new business models that will allow consumers to ease off of electricity without the risk of losing power completely. This new business model allows consumers to essentially rent the solar panels for a monthly fee while still remaining connected to the local power grid. While their electricity bill won’t be eliminated completely, the amount that they save should be enough to offset the fee for the solar power panels. Some customers generate more solar energy than they use, but there currently isn’t a way for them to sell this extra energy to others who could use it. It’s possible that this could change in the future.

Leasing solar panels is a great option for those who aren’t prepared to take the plunge of purchasing, but what if you are ready to take that step? The first thing to do is find a reputable contractor who has experience working with solar panels. After all, you don’t want to spend the money that you save on your electricity bill correcting the problems left behind by a contractor who didn’t really know what they were doing. Get it done right the first time.

Boeing Installs Solar Panels at Cal State Northridge

The Boeing Company has announced a new series of solar power installations at a 100-kilowatt power facility being built on the campus of Cal State Northridge. The installation of 23 high-concentration photovoltaic solar panels is a demonstration of a new technology created by its Spectrolab subsidiary.

The new XR700 solar panels are an example of the type of solar technology which can be very useful to Southern California home builders in the near future. The technology concentrates more sunlight on fewer cells, allowing the solar panels to produce the same amount of electricity with less panels and a lower cost.

The panels will initially help the university and surrounding community meet its power needs. However, the benefits of the new solar panel technology could be extensive for construction in Los Angeles. One set of solar panel installations can produce 3.5 kilowatts of electricity, which is enough to power the average home in the area.

“This milestone is the result of a strong partnership between Boeing, the university, suppliers and other stakeholders to meet a growing energy need,” said Jeff Frericks, director at Boeing Energy Solutions.

Artificial and Award-Winning

For those looking for a truly gorgeous landscaping option for their home, selecting artificial residential turf might seem like an odd choice.  It is, of course, much easier to maintain than a natural lawn.  Not only is there no need to deal with watering, pesticides, weeding, and fertilizing, the “cut” will always be nice and even without you ever having to touch a mower.  But is it really attractive enough to completely replace the real deal?

According to the judges at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, the answer is yes.  This was the first year that products from fake foliage and artificial turf manufacturers could be use to create the landscaping for this 148 year old competition. And sure enough, one of the prize winners took advantage of this change in the rules, utilizing artificial turf in his design.

The Silver Gilt medal winning design was called “The Urban Plantaholics Kitchen Garden” and featured a futuristic look with a kitchen bursting with orchids. The artificial grass lawn came into play in a grotto segment that wasn’t open to natural light. While real grass wouldn’t have held up well, the artificial substitute looked great.  It is said that many of the visitors who saw the design (there were 150,000 total at the event) were fooled by the artificial grass.  It isn’t known if the Queen and Prince Philip were among those taken in by the synthetic greenery, but it has definitely raised public interest in the benefits offered by artificial turf.

Who Needs Smartphones?

With all the hype (and controversy) surrounding the new iPhone 4G, it is easy to forget that having a smartphone is not everything. Yes, it is nice to be able to browse the web on your phone while listening to some music or even have a dictionary or books stored on your phone. But the primary use of a phone really is to make calls and send texts.

This is exactly what Just5 is focusing on. The manufacturer has come out with a line of phones that have… nothing. No this is not a joke, Just5 is focusing on the bare basics and has a target market in mind which it hopes will make these models a success. The phone allows you to make calls and send texts. Apart from this it has large buttons, a moderately large screen, has very loud volume levels and allows you to store five emergency numbers which can be accessed via an SOS button.

So who are they targeting? Seniors, Children and those with vision & hearing impairment. The idea seems rather sound and with the price of the phone expected to be far cheaper than any other phone in the market, it could succeed. It could even find a willing market in Asian countries, as it would be an extremely cheap alternative for companies who provide phones to their sales force.

Just 5 are not planning to release anything more complicated than this in the future. Designs may differ, but the features will remain more or less the same. The success of the idea will be well worth watching.

Why We Recycle

There are a wide variety of items manufactured by plastics companies today that are made at least in part from plastic that was recycled from other items. For example, plastic bottles that are recycled by consumers are shredded and then sold to other companies in the form of chips that have been sterilized. These chips are used to make everything from synthetic lumber for construction to the fleece blankets we huddle under in cold weather. Companies that produce items from recycled plastic, either through injection mold design or other manufacturing processes, tend to label their products as containing post consumer or recycled plastic. The public is much more aware of how important “living green” is these days and many people would prefer to promote the use of plastics that have been recycled rather than “virgin” or newly produced plastic.

Of course, the “life cycle” of plastics as it were largely depends on the type of plastic. A PET water bottle is much easier to recycle than acrylic sports display cases. One of the best things you can do is read up on the recycling policies in your area. You can also check to see if there are any environmental groups in your area than can provide you with some guidance. As a consumer, you have an important role to play in the fate of the plastic that you use on a daily basis. It’s important to do your part so that the environment can support the generations of the future.

Selecting men’s suits

Not every man gets what to wear immediately, especially when it comes to men’s suits, but through years of watching and learning from older folks, especially from elder brothers and fathers. Well, and somewhere down the line, when a boy becomes a man, he would have also learned the rudiments of dressing well.

Take for example, the wool suit, which is often the first choice for a suit. Not only can it worn all the year around as it is durable and hard wearing but depending on the weave of wool, it can be used to make heavier or lighter suits.

While Italian wool is considered the best, what helps is finding a tailor that will help you make the suit according to your specific measurements. While the most popular fashion designers such as Gucci, Armani and Dolce make suits that cost you a lot, one can also find more economical versions of the same.

The normal styles in which these suits are made are the two-button and the three-button suits that seem to never seem go out of fashion. It is a good idea to update your wardrobe with these suits once in every five years. When it comes to tuxedos that are used for every formal event, be it prom night, an upscale party or any occasion to celebrate, this suit is a must have for every gentleman who dresses to impress.

Finally, when it comes to these suits, one must understand that in selecting them, one should always look for the highest quality.

Breaking in Turf

One of the reasons that people still hesitate to buy synthetic turf in this day and age, either for sporting purposes or for commercial and residential use, is that they still have a negative impression of the material based on the earliest attempts to integrate artificial turf into the mainstream. The first generation of synthetic turf is almost unrecognizable when placed next to the high-tech material being used in today’s arenas and public spaces.

However, not everyone is familiar with just how much the technology has evolved and some are still quick to place the blame on the synthetic grass when there are concerns.  Recently, fan favorite New York Giants player Dominick Hixon, a wide receiver, took a bad fall during the Giant’s mini-camp.  He will unfortunately be out for the season due to a torn ACL.

A lot of fans were stirred into a panic over the artificial grass turf that had been installed in the New Meadowlands Stadium.  There were comments from the players that the turf felt loose, so blame for the fall immediately went to the turf itself, with concerns that other accidents may follow.

The fact of the matter is that the turf in the new stadium was produced by the same company that made the turf in the old stadium that the team was used to. While the field may feel a bit odd to them now, enough use will “break it in” as it were, meaning the turf will tighten up with use.

Sheen’s car stolen again

Charlie Sheen can’t seem to catch a break. Well, apart from his money spinning role in “Two and a half men” that is. Infidelity, rocky marriages and much more have haunted the actor’s career and now he seems to be haunted by malicious thieves.

On February 5th, Sheen’s Mercedes was stolen. While that seems like a routine robbery, the details and the consequent happenings are what make this very significant. The car was in the actor’s garage, which in turn, is located in a gated community. After being stolen, the car was driven or pushed off a cliff on Mulholland Drive.

The same incident repeated itself on Tuesday, June 15th. This time, the car was parked in the driveway. In both instances, Sheen had no idea of the theft happening and had left the keys in the car. The second car, which was also a Mercedes, was found with its engine running and all of its lights on. It was also found in the same area as the previous car.

Although this sounds like something the troubled actor is capable of doing, a couple of things shift suspicion away from him. The first is that another car, a Bentley, also suffered the same fate and was discovered in another location on the same road; the second is that a further three cars had also been broken into in the same area.

So far no motives or suspects have been named. The only thing that seems to be evident is that it is the same gang that seems to be involved in all of these incidents.

The Purpose of an answering service

Yes, doctors and business owners are busy people, and the truth is they either need more hands to attend your phone or actually hire an answering service, of which the latter seems to be the plausible solution.

An answering service is not just about people answering your phone pretending to be you or your company but instead works as a suitable stand-in when you’re short of hands in the literal sense. Not is an outsourced call center the perfect solution for people who are in desperate need of people to answer the phone, but more specifically well-suited for people who are interested in treating their customers right.

The fact is that the more customers you have, then the harder it is to please if you are doing it all by yourself. So, not only do these centers represent your company but they also provide the right information (that we take from our clients) along with being professional and courteous when answering the phone.

And the years of experience in the customer service in several industries is proof of their expertise in a business which is definitely competitive both in terms of price as well as their line of expertise. Since technology is a large part of the customer service industry, some of these call centers have the know-how (and the manpower) to offer their clients with a nationwide answering service.

All in all, if one wants to own a successful business or even stay at the top, customer service is the key, and it is through an outsourced call center’s services that one can get there.
