Design the Perfect Nursery
Whether you want a traditional or modern nursery décor, make sure that your baby’s room is both practical and stylish with these simple tips.
Go crazy with cabinets. You can never have enough cabinet space when it comes to your nursery. Make sure that your nursery has ample cabinets and closets for neatly storing clothes, toys and other items such as baby bedding, linens and towels. Having these items handy and in the baby’s room will save you time while reducing clutter by keeping them out of sight.
Pack in the pillows. Depending on your theme or color palette, adding a variety of coordinating pillows can complete the look. Soft plush pillows also add color and décor to an otherwise neutral baby room. While you don’t want to leave the pillows in the crib, you can place them around the room on chairs, window, shelves, and even scattered on the floor creating a comfortable play corner. Make sure you identify the play corner with its own area rug and mini table.
Display beautiful baskets. Although you may have ample cabinet space for feather quilts and linens, you will need a readily available place to store other necessities such as diapers, wipes and lotions. Use stylish wicker baskets to store daily necessities within arm’s reach. Wicker is available in classic and contemporary hues, making it easy to coordinate with any theme or décor.
Soften up curtain poles. Add a softer touch to your curtains by tying ribbons around brass curtain poles. According to Better Homes and Gardens, ribbons are an easy way to soften the drapery panels without steering away from your overall theme.
Include a rocking chair. There is nothing better than relaxing in a comfortable rocking chair when putting your baby to sleep or breastfeeding. Equip your baby room with its own rocking chair, instantly adding both décor and functionality to the nursery. And when the baby grows older, don’t be afraid to move the rocking chair into the living room.
