Half a Glass of Wine per Day Could Increase Cancer Risk

In the past, scientists have thought that the substance called resveratrol used in red wine could, in moderate amounts, provide heart health benefits. But a new study from the Cancer Institute in Paris shows that just half a glass of wine per day could also increase your risk of colon cancer by nine percent and the risk of mouth and throat cancer by as much as 168%. According to President Dominique Maraninchi, “Small daily doses of alcohol are the most harmful. There is no amount, however small, which is good for you.”

A comprehensive review by the World Cancer Research Fund concluded that alcohol use, in any amount, specifically increases the risk of mouth, voice box, throat, colon, liver, and breast cancers.
