Health Benefits of Rowing
Getting in shape is not without many choices. From dance classes to fitness routines to boot camp, there seems to be a solution for almost everyone. Likewise, rowing is a superb way of getting in shape, especially if you are a lover of the great outdoors. Even if you are not, an indoor rowing machine can do the trick. Here is why rowing is such a healthy sport:
- The entire body benefits from rowing, as the seat moves back and forth, the rower gets a workout with both legs and arms.
- The rowing gives you a full body workout as well as an incredible cardio exercise.
- It is great exercise for the upper body but is about 85 percent legs.
- Experts say the constant motion gets the heart rate up and is thus maintained throughout the entire workout, which lasts for upto 40 minutes or so.
- Rowing machines are built to feel and sometimes sound like you are on the water. This is so much better than the constant humming of a treadmill motor.
- A thirty minute rowing session burns almost 300 calories.
- The rhythmic motion of rowing can be meditative. This gives your mind a chance to relax and reduce stress.
- If you are just after an accident, rowing is an excellent low-impact exercise for the joints. Tension adjustments are easy to make, and you can use more back and less arm to row if necessary.
- If you choose to row outdoors, the fresh air will help as well as the Vitamin D from the sun.
