Whitening or Bleaching

Are you interested in learning more about laser teeth whitening? Are you tired of the lackluster appearance of your smile? As one of the most popular areas in cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening is an excellent solution for those who want to improve the look of their teeth but might not be at the point where they actually need something as drastic as porcelain veneers. However, there is plenty of confusion from many people as to what all the terms thrown around really mean.

“Bleaching” is a term that the FDA has ruled may only be used when a cosmetic dentist is using a product that contains actual bleach and can whiten teeth beyond their natural shade. Usually, these products contain carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. On the other hand, “whitening” can be used for any product that improves the surface color of a tooth, be it bleaching or simple cleaning.
